Day 1 of 21, The start of a new me.

This morning I woke up excited and full of energy for the next 21 days. I surely hope that energy persists throughout this time.

I packed my food for the day last night using the guide of what I should and shouldn't be eating.
This is what my stack of goodies looked like:
I picked up colored "ziplock" bags from Target (Target brand). This helps because you only receive one of each container (except the teeny tiny orange one) and you will eat 2-4 servings of each category a day.

Anyhoo, for breakfast I had 1 Purple (grapes) and one Red (Greek yogurt). My morning coffee was not black, no sir, but it did have significantly less sugar and creamer then I usually put in it. That part may be difficult. Anyone who knows this mommy knows how much I adore my coffee. We are allowed to drink it on the program however the booklet does suggest lowering if not removing bad stuff aka fancy creamers and processed sugars.

My mid morning snack was 1 Orange (oatmeal). About a 1/4 cup cooked.

For lunch I had 2 Red (chicken breast & hardboiled eggs), 2 Green (spring mix lettuce & cucumber), 1 Blue (Hummus), and I added a little balsamic vinegar to mix with the hummus as a dressing. By this time I have already had 25oz of water with a mint, lemon and lime infusion (yumm-e!).
I have to work until about 5 and then have to pick up my kiddo from daycare and get home to do dinner and bath. Once he is in bed I plan to accomplish my first workout routine.
STAY TUNED!
-------
While my little love bug was eating his dinner (he had a vegan pizza and it smelled so good!)
I ate this:
1 Purple (sliced orange), 1 Yellow (edamame), 1 Orange (shaved coconut), 1 Green (Spring mix lettuce) and 1 Red (Chicken breast). I sprinkled some white wine vinegar over it and it was great! I was so busy today at work and forgot to eat my edamame as a snack (as intended) so why not throw it on my salad?

After my son was bathed and settled in bed I accomplished my first workout....
The dreaded first workout! Who knows how long its been since I have done a REAL workout. like serious business, longer then 7 minutes, dripping sweat, weights and all, kind of workout.... forever, that's how long its been, FOR-EV-ER of the Sandlot variety.
I'm not going to sugar coat this.
ready?

I got my ass handed to me.
The workout itself was quite simple really. There are various work outs that Autumn takes you through. Each 30-60 seconds long. with breaks varying of 10-20 seconds in between to adjust to the next move, drink water and stretch if needed. Each one is with or without the weight of your choice. My choice was a measly 5lb weight. For some reason I thought after toting around my toddler who was 9lbs at birth and is now easily 30lbs I couldn't possibly have a problem with the 5lbs. WTH was I thinking? I don't know. What I do know is that I am much more out of shape then I knew I was and this first day proved to me 2 very important things.
1. I need this more then I realized.
2. If I can get through today I can get through the next 20 days....or as someone said recently, If Britney Spears can get though 2007, I can get through this.

I'm going to go chug some water.

Day one, down!

Tomorrow is the day!

For the last few days in preparation I have been eating lighter and being more careful about what I eat. I have been drinking my "green" shake and drinking as much water as possible.
I have also been taking walks during lunch breaks.

Tonight I take my before pictures. Gulp.
I will not share them until the program is finished with a side by side comparison but will post some randoms here and there.

On a exciting note... I did receive my package! Here is a shot of what came in it.

2 DVD's with the work out program on them.
A guide to figure out how much and what you should be eating based upon your current weight. It provides a formula so you can figure out where to go from there and what amount of which food groups to incorporate into your day.

The food containers and a Shakology shaker cup. I don't use this brand nutritional shake but I am surely excited about a new water cup. I have never tried Shakeology so I won't knock it, but it is to expensive for me, sorry Beach Body!

Tune in!

Here we go....

I have been mentally fighting with myself for exactly 22 months about my body post baby (My sweet boy is 22 months today). I have dieted and tried to dedicate to a regular regime of running or walking and nothing has stuck.. mostly because I have had zero motivation due to my schedule (full time working mom) and my partners fluctuating schedule. He has a rotating schedule so I can't plan to do much sans child on a regular basis, like a gym or workout routine. My dear friend Kristi told me about this 21 day fix by Beach Body and I immediately did the mental check list of weather it would work for me or not...

- Can I do the food part? Yes.
I eat pretty healthy anyway because I have been tracking my habits via myfitnesspal app since before I was pregnant. I wasn't worried about my commitment to that part. check.

- Next question, Can I dedicate myself to doing the work outs? Sure....
Well, if they don't take to long, I will have something showing me how (there is DVD's I hear!), and I can accomplish them when my little spawn is in bed. Sure! check.

- Can I afford this? Parenting budget and all (hey diapers are spency). Yes!
Its a first payment of $19.95 + shipping and then 2 payments of $19.95. there is a full 30 day money back guarantee... this is a 21 day program... soooo I don't see a problem if I end up hating it. check.

- Final question I asked myself to be sure I could handle this? Can I dedicate myself to this for 21 full days? .....
and my response was... well, if you don't you sure are wasting like 120 diapers. To a budgeting mommy like myself, that was certainly motivation.

My package is to arrive on Tuesday, April 29 and I plan to begin the following day.

I will post daily updates on how I'm feeling about my progress... I will take before and after pics and this blog will hopefully inspire other mom's out there who have no time or motivation to believe they to can do something about the post baby bump.

To aid in my progress I plan to continue using myfitnesspal and waterlogged apps for assistance in tracking food and water intake. (they have alarms on them to remind you to log if you are forgetful or busy, too)

wish me luck!
